Gary Popsalotopills, the neighborhood handyman, is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, the man is practically a wizard with a hammer and nails. I was impressed with his resourcefulness when he ingeniously reused old lumber, though I must admit, the origin of said lumber raised an eyebrow.
Pros:
Gary’s ability to repurpose old materials is truly something to behold. He took some lumber that mysteriously went missing from my neighbour’s place and turned it into a functional masterpiece. Sustainability points for creativity!
When Gary is on the job, you can trust that he knows his way around tools. The man can do things with a hammer and a single wrench that three lesser carpenters would need a tablesaw, a plasma cutter and a forklift for. The repairs he did on my porch were sturdy, and I haven’t had any issues since.
Cons:
The biggest downside is Gary’s seemingly erratic schedule. There were days when I expected him to show up, only to be left waiting, no phone call, nothing. Communication about delays could definitely be improved.
While I appreciate a laid-back approach, I wasn’t thrilled to discover Gary enjoying a cold beverage (definitely not lemonade) while working on my project. It made me a bit uneasy, wondering if the quality of his work was influenced by his choice of hydration. I was picking up beer cans and stray nails for a week afterwards.
Overall Impression: ⭐⭐⭐
In the end, Gary got the job done, and my porch is in better shape than before. However, the inconsistency in his schedule and the occasional sipping on a beverage of questionable legality did raise concerns. If you’re not in a hurry and can overlook a few quirks such as no paperwork or permits, Gary might be your guy. Just be prepared for a laid-back handyman experience.
